Seeing

my inner eye sees
what my outer eye misses ...
eternity

Desert Haiku

water fountains pour
manna into the sky --
cactus weeps

sudden rain pours
parched desert floor remains --
flash flood

houses long dead
rise from the lake --
drought

sweeping the dunes
in search of rain --
desert wind

rain carves the earth
hissing it disappears --
desert storm

desert springs
unquenching --
mirage

stout legs sport
summer shadows --
banyon

White Supremacists

Two teenaged girls, twins, stand on a stage, smiling and waving. The music begins to play. The audience settles in anticipation. Proud parents wait in the wings, smiling their appreciation. Twin hands grab mics, clear throats, the clear tones of talent and youth fill the air, with hate.

pony tails, barbie dolls
preteen blushes ...
hummingbirds of death

Spring Pruning

needle-sharp emerald tresses
lie discarded on the ground --
roses weep

black plastic garbage can
dances with canes --
stalks remain

red swords cris-cross bare arms
wounds of victory --
thorns lie in defeat

bee hovers anxiously
above snapping shears --
trimmed trumpet vine

grape vines decorate
the waiting ground --
dreaming of the harvest

lilac buds peer anxiously --
as pomegranate branches draw hopscotch
on the ground
